BYOD (short for Bring Your Own Device) is a growing phenomenon in the work place.  With more and more of us tethered to our smartphones, tablets and/or laptops, it is no surprise many of these devices are making their way into the workplace.  Don't worry not only do end users want to bring their personal equipment into work, but many company's are actively recruiting people to bring them in.

A growing number of small to midsized company's are seeing BYOD (first introduced around 2010) as a great way to reduce the costs of technology hardware.  The feeling is any dollar reduced in technology is a dolllar that can be leveraged in other areas of the company.  Often times this is a win win, but there are many serious issues created by BYOD.

Over the next few months Almeida & Associates will cover many aspects about BYOD and how to make it work for you or your company.  We will discuss some of the many benefits and how to maximize them.  We will also look at some of the serious issues that can befall a company.  Some areas we will look at:

  • Security
  • Data breaches
  • Regulatory Complications
  • Company communications (phone numbers & E-mail addresses)
  • IT budgets

If there are any specific areas of interest or areas you would like us to cover please feel free to add a comment.  We will do our best to answer as many of the questions, and take the best ideas and turn them into future posts.
